That is the view of featherweight challenger Anthony Pettis, who fights on the undercard.

McGregor takes on Nurmagomedov for the UFC lightweight belt at the T-Mobile Arena on Saturday night, in an attempt to recapture the belt he won in 2016.

Pettis takes on Tony Ferguson in the co-main event on Saturday night, but could step in to face McGregor if Khabib fails to make weight.

Speaking to mmafighting.com, Pettis gave his prediction for the lightweight title fight, and said he believes McGregor has enough to defeat Khabib.

“I think Conor wins,” he said.

“Knockout, I don’t know what round.”

Pettis also criticised Khabib’s previous fights, and claimed he shouldn’t be going into the octagon as the champion on Saturday night.

“I think Conor’s win over Eddie (Alvarez) solidifies him more as champion more than Khabib beating Al (Iaquita),” he explained.

“That’s just facts. The belt is where it is, they had to do it for the business, they had to move it forward, but if it was true to the game, Conor would be the champion.

“Who did Khabib win the belt against? He didn’t win the belt against the champion. We’re in a weird spot. He didn’t win the belt against a real champion.

“You look at the last 10 fights, there’s some good wins, some great wins. But he hasn’t fought the best in the division.”

Pettis also pinpointed a specific weak point for Khabib, suggesting that his striking is not good enough for him to properly test McGregor.

“We’ve all seen his striking game,” he explained.

“We saw him in his last fight against Al and how he performed. If he comes like that against Conor? I mean, that’s the wrong guy to do it against I’m sure he’s motivated, I’m sure Conor’s motivated.

“But I’m picking Conor.”
