Met Office meteorologist Craig Snell said: “It does stay for most of next week to the north west of the UK, so really strong winds stay offshore, the main impacts for us is it will bring a return of some rain. From Tuesday onwards, some of the rain will be heavy so we’ll keep an eye on that. Temperatures return back down to average, low 20s in the south. It will be a little bit blustery. There will be some more larger waves towards the western coasts. If you are planning to head towards the beach early next week, stay up to date with forecasts on our website." Today (August 25), there will be rain in Northern Ireland and along the west coast of England, Scotland, and Wales. On Tuesday (August 26), there will be showers across the UK, heaviest on the west coast.

By Wednesday (August 27), rain will be much heavier, with over 5mm an hour falling in Belfast, Carlisle, Glasgow, Fort William, and Conwy. According to forecaster Wxcharts, rain will push northeast across the UK until next weekend, covering much of the country in showers.

Met Office Meteorologist Kathryn Chalk said: "This [band of rain] is actually ex-hurricane Erin, and it's going to be bringing in bands of showers or heavier spells of rain as we go through the week, and also some large waves, especially across the western coast.

"This band of rain will edge into western parts of Scotland, then later overnight [Monday into Tuesday] into Wales and the southwest of England could turn quite heavy at times."
