Amazon children's toys have been recalled due to the risk of choking. Anyone who has bought the three items is being urged to send them back to the retail giant.

According to the Office for Product Safety and Standards, each item presents a "high risk of choking". They include the Moontoy Musical Crawling Octopus, the Plush Cow Doll, and the Homelylife Busyboards.

Each toy, which were made in China, fails to meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011. They are now being rejected at the UK border before being destroyed.

People who have purchased the Moontoy Musical Crawling Octopus are being urged to stop using it and return it immediately. The Office for Product Safety and Standards said it presents a choking risk as small screws can detach from the toy during play.

They said: "These screws fit wholly inside the small parts cylinder. A young child may mouth these small parts and choke."

Meanwhile, the Plush Cow Doll has been removed from Amazon and is being rejected at the UK border. The office said: "The product presents a high risk of suffocation as the flexible plastic bag used for packaging has an area greater than 100mm x 100mm and the bag thickness measured as 0.030 ± 0.002mm is less than the minimum 0.038mm specified.

"The bag therefore poses a potential suffocation hazard to young infants who may play with the packaging and place it over their mouths."

Finally, the Homelylife Busyboards are being rejected at the border and being destroyed. The product presents a choking risk as the zip can easily be removed.

The office said: "The product presents a high risk of choking as the small parts of the toy, such as the zip, can be easily removed. If a child were to play with the toy without supervision, and the zip became detached, they may mouth it and choke."
