Throat issues prompt Celine Dion to scrap five Vegas shows

CELINE DION has pulled the plug on five upcoming Las Vegas shows so she can rest her inflamed vocal chords.

Doctors have told the singer to take a break after discovering "acute inflammation and swelling in the muscles adjacent to her vocal chords", and so she has scrapped a series of her The Colosseum shows at Caesar's Palace from Wednesday night (30Jul14).

"After experiencing prolonged discomfort in her throat area, Celine was examined by her physicians this afternoon. They discovered acute inflammation and swelling in the muscles adjacent to her vocal chords, and have prescribed anti-inflammatory medication and instructed her to rest her voice for the next 8 days.

"Regularly scheduled performances beginning Friday, Aug. 8 will resume as planned."
