Gordon Ramsay’s remark to Holly and Adam which will ‘break his parents’ hearts’
A single word from Gordon Ramsay has reignited fury over Adam Peaty's family rift.

It was meant to be a proud, emotional moment as Gordon Ramsay celebrated his daughter’s wedding — but one small word has reignited fury around an already bitter family rift. The celebrity chef walked his daughter Holly down the aisle as she married Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty in a lavish ceremony at Bath Abbey on December 27. The couple were surrounded by famous friends, family speeches and glamorous celebrations — yet the day has continued to be overshadowed by the groom’s fractured relationship with his own parents.
The controversy flared again after Adam shared a series of snaps from the couple’s pre-wedding celebrations, with Holly revealing her siblings had even delivered speeches ahead of the big day. Among the comments, Gordon wrote: “Beautiful. Love you both Dad @hollyramsaypeaty @adamramsaypeaty.” While many fans saw it as a warm message, others zeroed in on Gordon’s use of “Dad” when addressing both Holly and Adam — claiming it was a pointed dig at Adam’s estranged parents, who were barred from attending the wedding.

One critic fumed: “You can’t help yourself, can you? You have to keep making it upsetting for Adam’s parents. You made the wedding day a circus and you are determined to to make his family suffer shame on you.”
Another added: “Gordon you need think if it was your son getting married and not inviting you and your wife, how would you feel about it… his mother and father must be heartbroken, he should be ashamed of himself.”
The backlash follows reports that Gordon had already made a controversial remark during his father-of-the-bride speech.
According to The Sun, he praised Holly’s appearance and told Adam he was a “lucky man”, before adding: “Look at Tana and that’s what you have to look forward to.”
The publication claims he then turned to Holly and said: “Shame you don’t have the same.”
The comment was said to have left Adam’s mother Caroline “outraged” and “hurt”, with a family source telling the Daily Mail the swipe had been “pre planned”, branding it “cruel” and “very hurtful”.

Despite the criticism, Gordon stood by his words when he appeared on This Morning last week. He insisted: “It’s tough, honestly. Being the dad with three daughters, you dream of that moment… the speech was perfect, it went well.”
Daughter Tilly also backed him, revealing she had listened to the speech in advance, saying: “No tweaks were needed, it was perfect. It made everybody cry.”
Bride Holly later defended her father in British Vogue, sharing a photo of herself and Adam laughing during the speech and writing: “Listening to dad’s speech… feeling overwhelmed with the love and the happiness on our guests’ faces.”
She also revealed her parents paid for the couple’s luxury honeymoon to Mauritius, adding: “I had to tell Adam we weren’t basing our honeymoon around a 25-metre pool…”
The family rift dates back to September 2024, when Adam and Holly failed to invite wider members of the Peaty family to their engagement party.
