22 years after being given an OBE by the late Queen Elizabeth for services to football, David Beckham will be receiving his official knighthood today. The Manchester United legend - whose wife will now be known as Lady Victoria Beckham - has been given the honour for services to sport and charity. The former England captain has a long history of charitable work, which Honours Committee officials will have considered before deciding to bestow the honour upon him. David is married to former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham and has four children with her: Brooklyn, 26, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and 14-year-old Harper Seven.

Ahead of the ceremony at Windsor Castle today, it is reported that Victoria has given a special gift to her husband and has created a morning suit for him to wear.

According to the Daily Mail, the project began back in June when the couple found out that David would be knighted in the King's Birthday Honours.

A source close to the pair told the publication: “David teases Victoria that she never makes him any clothes. So when they found out in the spring that David was going to get his big day at Windsor later in the year, Victoria decided that she had enough time to make it happen.

“She has never done anything like this before and she was aware it would be time-consuming but Victoria knew the investiture would be some way off.

“Victoria got to work, designing the three-piece suit and, as she doesn't do anything by halves, she threw herself into it and made sure it was absolutely perfect.

“The fact that David is wearing a Victoria Beckham outfit will make a special day even more special.”

Earlier this summer, Victoria wrote on Instagram after the news was revealed: "You’ve always been my knight in shining armour, but now it’s official.

"Sir @davidbeckham!!! What an honour, I couldn’t be prouder of you. Your dedication to the things that matter most — your country, your work, your passion, and most of all, your family — has never wavered.

"The way you’ve touched so many lives over the years with kindness and humility speaks volumes about the man you are and continues to inspire us everyday. But above all else, I’m so, so proud to call you mine. I love you so much xxxx".
